"I wish I could just give people a new lease on life. It would be to wake up and start walking the path of not caring what other people think. Putting yourself first. Women will be called the B word. Men will be called arrogant. Nope, it's called confidence."

Monica Adams is a radio and television personality in St. Louis. After many years as a local newscaster on both Fox 2 and KSDK, she expanded her reach by adding podcasting and social media video content. She’s also a fitness trainer, life coach, and fashion consultant reachable at The Real Monica Adams website.

She talks to Cynthia about her early days as a goalie at Mizzou and the shocking way that her life took an unexpected turn. She covers her journey into broadcast journalism, and how it led to an even higher calling as a personal transformation consultant. Her words of wisdom will help anyone who wants to achieve greatness, no matter where they’re starting from.

Jenn Whitmer: From Toxic Leadership to Joyosity™

“You can only lead as far as you’ve healed, because until you start to recognize that, you will perpetuate the same mistakes that got you there before, either yourself or the leader that you were under. And that’s why the healing part is so important, because it comes up again and you’re like, okay, wait, this is what this is.”

Dr. Leslie Davis

Dr. Leslie Davis: Why Smart Women Stay in Bad Relationships

“And when you get into that routine of making sure everybody else is okay and you’re not filling your own cup, then you’re empty. And I think at that point, if it goes on for too long, that’s where silencing happens naturally, where you have no words for yourself because you’ve given it to everyone else.”

The first thing I would say, and maybe the only thing is be curious, ask questions, don’t be afraid to ask a question. And if you’re thinking about it, write it down so you’ll remember it in the future.
